I started working in the mental health field as a case manager for youth at the local mental health authority in Corpus Christi, Texas while going to school for my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi. While working as a case manager I would complete mental health screenings and conduct crisis assessments for the local juvenile justice department here in Corpus Christi. I loved working with the incarcerated youth so much that when I graduated with my Master’s degree in 2017 a spot for a full-time counselor opened up at the juvenile department so I transitioned full-time over there. I worked for the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Department for five and a half years. During that time, I created and ran a Wellness group for the juveniles, created and ran a group for victims of human trafficking, created and implemented an in-house trained canine program for the juveniles, and conducted individual and family counseling.

I believe each person is an expert in their own lives and I’m just here to bring some tools that can help them along their journey. I know that seeking help from a stranger isn’t easy, so I have a conversational style and approach during sessions and like to spend some time getting to know my clients as we work together. I’m not afraid to bring in other interventions from different types of therapeutic approaches and love integrating music, art, and other hobbies into session if it will benefit the person I’m serving.
