Perinatal Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) :

In person & virtual

  • Our perinatal IOP is designed for individuals who need more support than an hour of weekly therapy.

IOP may be a good fit if you are:

What to expect:

TMS for Depression in the Perinatal Period

TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is an FDA-approved, non-invasive treatment for depression that uses gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation.

For some individuals during pregnancy or postpartum, TMS may be considered:
Your Mindful Maternal provider will discuss whether TMS is appropriate and safe for your unique situation.

Medication Management

Our psychiatric providers offer medication management with a reproductive-mental-health lens, taking into account:
Treatment options may include traditional antidepressants as well as newer options like Zurzuvae for eligible adults with postpartum depression, when clinically appropriate.

Therapy for Pregnancy, Postpartum & Beyond

Our therapists offer:
We use evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches while keeping care warm, human, and practical.

Specialized Support Groups

In addition to IOP, Mindful Maternal offers more individualized support groups, such as:
These groups are facilitated by trained mental health professionals and connect you with others who truly understand your experience.

Zurzuvae (zuranolone) for Postpartum Depression

Zurzuvae is an oral medication specifically approved for adults with postpartum depression. At Mindful Maternal, it may be offered as one treatment option for eligible patients after a thorough evaluation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your first visit is focused on getting to know you and your story. We’ll ask about your pregnancy or postpartum experience (or fertility/adoption journey), your mental health history, supports, and current symptoms. Together, we’ll talk through options like IOP, therapy, medication management, or support groups, and decide on a plan that feels manageable and supportive for you. You’ll have time to ask questions and share any worries or goals you have.

Mindful Maternal services are billed just like our other clinical services at Mindful Health. We are in network with many major insurance plans, and coverage can vary based on your specific plan and the level of care. Our team will verify your benefits and review any expected costs with you before you start. Self-pay options may also be available.

No. Mindful Maternal supports people across the perinatal spectrum, including trying to conceive, fertility treatment, pregnancy, postpartum, pregnancy loss, and adoption/surrogacy. If your emotional health is being impacted by any part of the family-building journey, you may be a good fit for this program.

We offer on-site daycare services during the IOP session time at our Heath location, and we’ll coordinate details with you during your intake, so you know exactly what to expect. For other appointments and groups, policies may vary by clinic and program. Our team will walk you through your options and help find a setup that works best for you and your family.

Mindful Maternal is built specifically for perinatal mental health. Our providers have advanced training through Postpartum Support International (PSI) and understand the unique medical, hormonal, relational, and identity changes that come with pregnancy, postpartum, fertility, and early parenting. We also offer higher levels of care (like IOP), TMS, medication management, and support groups, so your care can flex with your needs.

You do not need a referral to reach out to us directly. However, many patients are referred by their OB/GYN, midwife, pediatrician, primary care provider, or therapist. If you are a provider making a referral, our intake team will coordinate with you (with your patient’s permission) to support a smooth transition.

Length of care depends on your needs and the level of care. Many people participate in IOP for several weeks, with a planned graduation and step-down to ongoing therapy, medication management, or a support group. Your team will check in regularly about how you’re feeling, what’s improving, and what support you’ll need next.

That’s completely okay. With your consent, we can collaborate with your existing providers so everyone is on the same page about your care. Our goal is to add support and structure, not replace the providers you already trust.
