Heather has a Masters in clinical Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University and a Masters in Fine Art from New Mexico State University. She has been working as a professional artist for more than 25 years. Heather is passionate about the role art therapy can play in healing trauma and addressing mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. As a student of Dr. Edith Eva Eger, she has learned that “expression is the opposite of depression. What we can express and let out cannot make us sick, but what we hold inside can.” Heather uses painting, drawing, writing and clay to help clients express themselves and allow others to bear witness to our emotional healing. In addition to using art therapy, Heather is trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and incorporates elements of yoga, mindfulness and emotional regulation.
Everyone’s mental health journey is unique, and we’re here to ensure you find the right support for yours.
